When we are feeling stressed out, often all we can think about are the mounting list of problems, the things that are going wrong. Our brains are wired to get locked into a problem until we come up with a solution.
Often we become so fixated on how stressed we feel, that we forget to do the things that we enjoy…the things that would actually help us to feel better!
Sit down today with approx 20 little pieces of paper and a pen (you can do this on your phone if you prefer).
On each piece of paper write down an activity that you genuinely love to do.
This could include simple things like “Settle in for a film day on the sofa with a great selection of snacks”, or more energetic things like “pack a bag and head for a day at the beach”
The most important thing is that these are twenty things that you LOVE the most.
Place all the papers in a nice jar ( a washed out jam jar will do!) and put it somewhere obvious in your home.
Then, on those days when everything feels too much and the stress is overwhelming, simply select an activity from your joy jar and spend some time that day doing something that you love!
This will help reduce your stress and allow your brain to relax a little.
